Raceway Ministries: A great opportunity to help with a Home Missions Project

Hey Jeff,

I was wondering if you could help me spread the word to the folks in the area that might be interested in helping with this great Home Missions opportunity.

Hopefully, there are many in the area that are aware that there is a group of folks (Bristol Raceway Ministries) from the Tri-Cities area (and some that come from Knoxville, Asheville, Pigeon Forge and other cities and towns nearby) that work at all of the races and other events held at Bristol Motor Speedway. (e.g. Cancer and Heart Walks, RAM events, NHRA races, etc.)

We of Bristol Raceway Ministries are there to “serve”!  We “serve” anyone who has a need.  Whether the “service” needed is giving a golf cart ride to someone sick or elderly; giving directions to a place of interest; taking folks to the hospital and staying with them; helping someone who is abandoned or lost; or doing what we consider one of our greatest privileges, praying with someone.  Another way that BRM serves folks is by giving out free literature (books, tracks, coloring books, collectable cards with some of the NASCAR driver’s testimonies on them, and of course, Bibles and New Testaments), free “BODACIOUS” cookies and lots of smiles and friendly faces.

This where the need for the community to help comes in, Bristol Raceway Ministries is trying to design and publish a Bristol Raceway Ministries Special Edition New Testament. We are closing in on the absolute final deadline (June 27) and still have a long ways to go before reaching our goal.  So if there is anyone on your distribution list that would like to learn more information about this project, they can read the note that I recently sent out and the letter from Tony.

Thank you and those who take time to consider helping in any way.

God, bless,

Donna C. Kilgore

Dear Friends, Volunteers and Chaplains:

We need your help to make our Bristol Raceway Ministries Special Edition NT project a reality.  The deadline when we must have the money in hand to send to the printer is almost upon us, so I would like to make a challenge to you to do three things to help with this project.

  1. Pray and ask God what He would have you to do personally to support this project monetarily.  There are several ways to make your donation, but the easiest is to go online at www.bristolracewayministries.org/donate.html and select the Donate Now button and make your donation, but other methods are included in the letter that Tony and I have been sharing with all of our family, friends and business aquaintances.
  2. Forward this email on to as many folks as you think might be interested in helping with the project, as well as, and especially, to those that will help us spread the word of the need.
  3. Print out a copy of the attached letter and take it to your church this coming Sunday and challenge the congreagation to help in this Home Missions project.  (Many churches in our area are constantly working to support World Missions and this is their opportuntiy to be a part of something huge here at home!)

Thank you for all that you do for the LORD!  And keep praying for time is growning short.......

God bless,

Donna C. Kilgore

PS I am attaching the one page version of the letter and I am posting it at the bottom of the page in case you want to share this with others.

Dear Friend:

I come to you with an excellent opportunity for you to participate with God and Bristol Raceway Ministries to reach the masses of lost souls that will be attending the August 2011 race, but we must work together quickly to have the necessary funds collected by June 1st.

Did you know there are between 200,000 and 300,000 souls that can be reached during any given race week? Raceway Ministries believes the best way to do this is by getting the Word of God into the hands of race fans, vendors, and workers around the track. Therefore, we are planning on publishing a New Testament that will appeal to everyone in attendance.

This special edition New Testament will be a symbol of several momentous events to the Bristol race fans.  This special edition New Testament will be printed in the year of BMS’ 50th Anniversary, and it will be dedicated to the great legacy accomplished by Jeff Byrd, former General Manager of BMS, with deepest gratitude from Bristol Raceway Ministries for his wonderful support and friendship.

The objective of this project is to design, publish and print 40,000 copies of a high-quality NASB New Testament which will include the following:

Ø  a picture of the Bristol Motor Speedway on the front cover;

Ø  picture of the Bristol Dragway on the back cover;

Ø  New Testament text;

Ø  the plan of salvation;

Ø  scripture helps for a diverse set of problems and needs;

Ø  historical pictures from the BMS; and

Ø  pictures and testimonies of several of the drivers.

The cost per New Testament Bible is only $1.00, so if you are interested in helping with this Home Missions project financially, please visit www.bristolracewayministries.org/donate.html where donations are accepted by credit card (click on the Donate Now icon) or by check (mail to the address provided and put BRM NT Project on the memo line).

Also, please ask your churches and friends to contribute to this project.  (We even have some friends who have been posting this notice on Facebook to try to help us reach our goal for His Glory.)

Thank you for any and all considerations.  And remember, you can’t out give God!

2 Corinthians 9:8 says, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in everything; you may have an abundance for every good deed.” (NASB)

www.MoveToKingsport.com is located on the Tennessee-Virginia border at the crossroads of I-81 and I-26 near the geographic center of the Eastern U.S. This city of 50,000 in a metro of 308,000, was planned by renowned American planner John Nolen in his office at Harvard Square. Located in the lush green foothills of the Tennessee Valley, it is surrounded by the Southern Highlands and mountain lakes. Kingsport is home to Marriott’s www.MeadowViewResort.com and thousands of acres of unique, natural amenities at Bays Mountain and Warriors Path Parks. The natural geography provides a temperate, well-balanced climate with four seasons and a natural shelter from extreme weather. Population growth has also been well-balanced, ensuring you will not outgrow your decision to relocate. With no personal property taxes, special assessments, or state income taxes on salaries/wages, you’ll find that Kingsport has a very low cost of living coupled with an exceptionally high quality of life (see for yourself at www.BestPlaces.net). The regional airport (TRI) has direct flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Orlando and St. Pete/Clearwater with easy access, parking, and virtually no security lines. The public education system was planned by Columbia University and Newsweek has repeatedly recognized the local high school as one of the best in America. Year in and year out our graduates go on to the top colleges and universities (and without costly private school tuition fees). Harvard also recognized Kingsport in 2009 with the Innovations in American Government Award for its higher education initiative. What are you waiting for? It’s time to leave the high costs, traffic jams, and stress behind and discover this hidden gem.
