Heart Institute's Johnson City office what the doctor ordered for patients in southern Tri-Cities

HEART INSTITUTE'S JOHNSON CITY OFFICE WHAT THE DOCTOR

ORDERED FOR PATIENTS IN SOUTHERN TRI-CITIES

JOHNSON CITY – When Betty Adcock needed heart care, the Elizabethton resident didn't have to travel far to see her preferred cardiologist.

After experiencing chest pains, Adcock became a patient of the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute's Johnson City office at 316 Marketplace Blvd., Suite 20. The office opened in February to serve the residents of Washington, Carter and Unicoi counties with superior and compassionate cardiovascular care.

"I am immensely elated they're over there," Adcock said. "With age coming on, I don't want to drive long distances. It's a straight shot from Elizabethton to the institute."

The Wellmont CVA Heart Institute is the region's first dedicated heart institute and features the strength of eight Wellmont Health System hospitals, 36 board-certified physicians and nine community cardiac offices.

Adcock came under the institute's care after a referral from Dr. Jeff Hopland, a primary care physician in Johnson City and Elizabethton. She was treated by Dr. Herb Ladley, a board-certified interventional cardiologist.

Adcock underwent a cardiac catheterization at Holston Valley Medical Center, Tennessee's No. 1 hospital for cardiology for the second consecutive year. The procedure showed no blockages in her coronary arteries.

She gave rave reviews to Holston Valley, calling it "one of the cleanest hospitals I've visited in my life."

Dr. Hopland, who practices with Medical Care, LLC, said it's not just Adcock who has had a quality experience with the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute. He said patients appreciate the institute's short wait times to see a doctor and the personalized level of care.

"They go above and beyond to get their patients in quickly," Dr. Hopland said. "They've done a great job at that. The service is great, and the doctors have all been friendly.

"They have a consistent and evidence-based level of care that is really solid."

The institute's Johnson City office is staffed by five physicians and provides a wide array of services, including stress tests, echocardiograms, HeartSHAPE® calcium scoring, nuclear imaging, electrophysiology and Holter monitors. Vein care is a major focus in the Johnson City office, and The Arrythmia Center is also housed there.

Dr. Gerald Blackwell, president of the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute, said the institute's cardiac specialists work in partnership with primary care physicians such as Dr. Hopland to ensure patients are receiving seamless, quality medical care

Patients who need heart care and would like to see a Wellmont CVA Heart Institute specialist should let their primary care physician know, Dr. Blackwell said.

"Ultimately, it's the patient's choice," he said. "Let your family doctor know you choose the Wellmont CVA Heart Institute for your cardiac care. Our physicians will work closely with your primary care physician to deliver the best care possible for your heart."

www.MoveToKingsport.com is located on the Tennessee-Virginia border at the crossroads of I-81 and I-26 near the geographic center of the Eastern U.S. This city of 50,000 in a metro of 308,000, was planned by renowned American planner John Nolen in his office at Harvard Square. Located in the lush green foothills of the Tennessee Valley, it is surrounded by the Southern Highlands and mountain lakes. Kingsport is home to Marriott’s www.MeadowViewResort.com and thousands of acres of unique, natural amenities at Bays Mountain and Warriors Path Parks. The natural geography provides a temperate, well-balanced climate with four seasons and a natural shelter from extreme weather. Population growth has also been well-balanced, ensuring you will not outgrow your decision to relocate. With no personal property taxes, special assessments, or state income taxes on salaries/wages, you’ll find that Kingsport has a very low cost of living coupled with an exceptionally high quality of life (see for yourself at www.BestPlaces.net). The regional airport (TRI) has direct flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Orlando and St. Pete/Clearwater with easy access, parking, and virtually no security lines. The public education system was planned by Columbia University and Newsweek has repeatedly recognized the local high school as one of the best in America. Year in and year out our graduates go on to the top colleges and universities (and without costly private school tuition fees). Harvard also recognized Kingsport in 2009 with the Innovations in American Government Award for its higher education initiative. What are you waiting for? It’s time to leave the high costs, traffic jams, and stress behind and discover this hidden gem.
